About The Site

Review Limbo is the first Online Reputation Management blog to specialize in consumer reviews and the long-term effects of publicized consumer opinion on the web. Stay tuned for the latest updates on review start-ups, legal cases, general observations and optimization strategies, courtesy of Mitch Turck and contributing authors.

But why should I be the leader of this cause, instead of other schmoe? Beside my 8+ years of SEM experience, I have a minor background in psychology… which unfortunately is not enough to prescribe drugs, but is enough to have studied human nature and learned about consumers’ tendencies to focus on the negative rather than the positive, and to side with the loudest opinion regardless of its validity. I also spent my early SEM years in the automotive retail industry, which is easily one of the most brutal Reputation Management battlegrounds on the web today. Oh, and I run a review website of my own as well.

So why the name Review Limbo? It’s two-fold, actually.

For one thing, it seems that the formula for a successful review site is quickly becoming a game of “how low can you go” - catering to the negative side of reviews and turning the web into a witch hunt because consumers are instinctively drawn to such behavior.

But limbo also refers to purgatory, and the state of online consumer opinion is definitely in that uncertain phase right now. Is it libel? Is it free speech? Do businesses have any rights to control this information? It will all get sussed out eventually, but it’s pure anarchy right now… and you have a front row seat to the madness.

P.S.: The ad block is free of charge… I put up whatever I’m a fan of. If you have a product worth pushing (or even a blog post that is simply a must read), demo it to me and I might plug it into the banner space.

Review Limbo wants to help extend your fifteen minutes just a little bit further... in exchange for some quality content, of course. If you've found a consumer review site worth reviewing, or if you have an observation/solution you'd like to share, don't be bashful.
